Pressure Plate Issue

So, I went to install a Spec 3 and ran into a major snag. Upon setting the pressure plate up, i observed that one of the 6 mounting holes was about 1/8th of an inch off. I removed the plate and further noticed that part of the mount , right where it meets the flywheel was gone (small chunk of the mount).... That mount also appears to be set in about 1/8th towards the disc and may be a bad cast or was banged around during its life before i got it. I did not do a good inspection of the pressure plate prior to the install, Cause we all know they are the same pressure plates and i took for granted that i would not have a fitment issue.

Do you guys think i should drill the mount out to line it up or wait to see if the vendor i bought it from will send a replacement? They are well respected and hopefully they do but you never know.

Have you guys run into this with these valeo plates?

Thanks

I have had 2 Spec clutch units. (4th gen 97 383). The latest, a Spec series 3. All of the clutch units usually come with the pressure plate all Valero(?) pieces. I have not had any fit issues. I use a Spec Alum flywheel with a steel insert. Spec will sell you anything, but, usually does not give away stuff for free. So far, I am OK with their product. Priced right for what you get. Hope this helps. B.

Spec says make it fit... I have never had a fitment issue either, but if you guys run into this then just adjust the bolt hole so it lines up..

Doesn't suprise me with Spec. I would demand a new that I didn't have to drill out.

Why take the chance? They sent you a part that doesn't fit properly and they should replace it.
