Trying to get homework done

Kind of new at this, so trying many things, and many things fail, but its fun anyway. The information I am getting from here is amazing, and great insight.
I have 87 Monte Carlo SS, stock 10 bolt 3.73. The stall is 1700 for the 700r4, and considering going higher. I would guess the 383 stroker puts out 400 hp.. (not tested, someone else built the motor). I am actually a bit disappointed in the launch. I figure this would be a great start for something better? I am considering swapping old rear for a 2002 Camaro rear end, Posi 3.73 gears.
Any input would appreciated.. Not even sure if I am in the right place Thanks

The F-body rear axle is not a direct swap due to the different suspension designs. While both are "10 bolt" axles they are completely different, and the F-car axle has a smaller ring gear and is inherently weaker than your G-Body 10 bolt. HTH

Yeah, the G-body 10-bolt is MUCH stronger than the F-body 10-bolt. I wouldn't consider swapping an F-body rear into a G-body, ever.

G body had both 7.5" and 8.5" rears, as did the B body.

Good point; his G-body is a Monte SS, which I believe got the 8.5".

Gomonty, the rear in your Monte Carlo is not weaker than an F-body rear nor is it stronger. They are the same rear internally. They differ in width and mounting, but the same 7.5 ring gear, etc. You need an 8.5 rear, which came in the Turbo Buick and the Hurst Olds. They will bolt in to your car. It would be the simplest solution.

Looks like to me if you could run the ends to a existing bracket it would be completely bolt on.

I optioned for the Richmond gears (ratio of you choice), Richmond Powertracs locker, and Richmond master bearing kit. I installed the Moroso bolt in stud kit.

He answered your questions in the first post... from 8 years ago. He isn't likely to respond to your questions since he hasn't been active on this site for more than 4 years.

Richmond gears tend to be noisy. Motives are good, and essentially oem.
