I have a 3:73 gear in a positive limited slip rear end. at 3000 rpm's im getting about 60 mph. I want to at least be able to reach 100 mph with my gear installed. what do i do. try a 700 r4 trans and take out my 350 turbo, or take out the gear and put in a smaller one. Dont get me wrong its great from red light to red light but the freeway sucks. I have 22inch wheels with a 265 35 22 inch tire. Diameter is 29 inches. What do I do folks

1988 olds cutlass supreme. chevy engine and trans. 350 block .60 over. Dome trough pistons. 11:1 compression. Eagle steel crank, with roller rockers. 501 lift comp magnum cam. 2800-3000 stall. stock vortec heads

 

try a 4 speed

 

An overdrive trans if you can swing it.

will i lose my bottom end power that i have now? and when you say a 4 speed do you mean the 700 r?

 

TH350 = 2.52/1.52/1.0:1
700R4 = 3.06/1.63/1.0/0.70:1

So, first gear is lower in the 700 = harder launch.
