Fast guys need your advice on a tire/wheel combo

Which would you guys choose...

10.5" ET Street on a 16" weld draglite
or
An 11.5" ET Street on a salad shooter.

One has the weight advantage while the other has width advantage???

I,d go with the 10.5 on the draglite.
Lots of guys going insanely fast on a 10.5 inch tire, so I would take the weight advantage.
I would also go with a 15 inch wheel but thats just me.

Why not put the 26" x 11.5 x 16 on the Draglite's? That would be the best of both worlds. ET Street widths are sidewall widths, not tread width.

9.7" of tread on the 11.5's
8.4" on the 10"

The 11.5's are too wide for the salad shooters. I know guys have done it and it has worked, but by spec the 11.5's require a 10" rim and the optimal width tire is close o the width of the rim for maximum grip.

I would like to do what ththub said but the way I sit right now is that I can get an awesome deal on the draglites with the 10.5's used or get the 11.5's new and put them on my saladshooters.

I know the 11.5s are wider but doesnt that tire buldge on an 8.5" rim reducing the contact patch anway?

I gotta do this deal quick so everyone with an opinon let me know!

I disagree. I ran the 11.5s on my salad shooters both at the track and the street (I dont live far from work and the roads are good) for about a year. At 18-22 psi they had a very even wear pattern - Even at the very end of there life, when the threads finally were exposed. I seems to me that if they would have been to wide, they would not have worn that well.

MT specs say a 10" rim is optimum for the 26x11.5x16" ET Street, but an 8" is accetable. I used them for two years on salad shooters and got my 60' down to the low 1.5's (best of 1.51) consistently on a 4,100lb combo with an M6 and a stiff (non-drag race) suspension. I think the 11.5's will work better. OTOH, if the deal on the Centerlines i that good....?
