What to get to scan a 97 for codes?

Is there any freeware I can use to scan a 97 T/A to get the trouble codes? For my 93 I have Diacom and Scanmaster. Will these cables work?

You will need a different cable and software. Autozone will scan it for free if you are in a pinch.

Autotap makes a good diagnostic tool, but it depends on what you want to spend. If it is a one time deal and as stated above, in a pitch, then Autozone will do it for free. They have done it for me a couple of times already.

Thanks for the replies. I'll probably go the autozone route.

We just installed headers on a car and it's throwing a code. I know we have a pretty bad leak between the head and headers on #2 so I'm fairly sure that is the problem. But if I could find freeware I would like to be able to scan the car myself. I'll worry about it more if we still have a code after we replace the gasket.
