Exclamation TTS datamaster - com port locked?

I have a 93 M6, a USB/ALDL cable from akmcables, TTS software from akmcables, new laptop w/ xp home.

I set it all up, hooked up to car, tested the com with the PCM, there was connection. I pressed record, fired up the car, and the software was working. I let it idle for 10 minutes, then took it out for some city driving. I didn't get a 1/10th of a mile when it lost connection with the PCM.

AFter trying many things, here is what I get.

When I hook up the usb cable to laptop, it now says unknown device - before it said usb/serial.

When I try to assign com ports in the record menu of TTS, only com 3 is available. Before it was com 3 and 4. (I used 4 the first time)

When I tried looking up com ports in my computer - it said com 4 was in use - with nothing attached to laptop and no programs running.

And finally, when I press test com connection I get error 1 - cable is found but no connection to pcm.

Anyone seen this before - or know what I can do to unlock com 4 in my laptop? It is frustrating to have a new comp. and software to fix a problem I've had for 6 months just to have it all break on the first day

You might want to download the beta version, that seem to clear some of those issues up for me
