Scanmaster DTC 63

Scanmaster is reading DTC 63 (Bank 2 (right) Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Circuit (open circuit).

Car has been idling very rough and running poorly.

Questions:
1) Does (right) refer to the passenger side?
2) Is open circuit refering to a grounded/shorted wire?

Thanks, Weja

I should wait and let someone else answer but here's mine:
Right is passenger side as you suspect.
Open means incomplete or like your light switch when the lights are off.

Re: Scanmaster DTC 63

Thanks for the reply. Since you are the only one to respond, I shall assume that everyone else who read is in agreement. I shall replace the passenger side O2 Sensor as a fix.

Re: Scanmaster DTC 63

Could also be the power supply (12V) to the heater in the O2 sensor. If "all the goodies" includes headers with O2 sensor extensions, then it could be a faulty extension.

Re: Scanmaster DTC 63

Injuneer,

Your right about that. I made extensions myself to the O2 Sensor. Has been that way for several years, no problems. It is possible one of the wires has been melted. Since car is with my son in Tempe, I have to make assumptions on fix. I am sending him a new extension and O2 Sensor to have installed.

If there are any other possibilites in case this does not fix the problem, let me know.
