Question Pulling Codes

I have '85 380 SE Mercedes with a '96 Camaro Z28 engine and tranny. The shop that installed the engine and wiring did not wire in a OBD II port. Is there a way I can pull the codes directly from the computer or possible install the OBD II port back in?

Any suggestion would be great.

Well if it came with the old car of course it can be transfered as long as you still have it and nothing was done but not hooking it back up. Even then its possible but a lot harder.

From my Chiltons manual:

On the OBD-II PCM's, the wires that go from the PCM to the ALDL port are located at pin D/Blue 30 (tan wire = serial data) and pin D/Blue 20 (white/black = output/field serivce enable). The ALDL connector also gets +12V from the cigarette lighter circuit in the F-Body, and requires a ground to the chassis.

The PCM wiring diagram also shows a purple wire from pin D/Blue 7 to the ALDL connector, but does not show its purpose.

In the 16-pin OBD-II ALDL connector, the pins are arranged:

1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8
9 -10-11 -12 -13-14 -15-16

2 = serial data (Class 2)
4 = ground
5 = ground
6 = output/field dervice enable
9 = serial data
16 = +12V

That should get you started. You might want to verify all the above with an actual Helm factory shop manual. The Chiltons are not always correct, and I have an OBD-I car, so I can't check the actual wiring/pins.
