Heres a long shot, but could it be an intake leak, or injector o ring leak? Eric L

I did spray around using starting fluid. The RPMs didn't change. It wouldn't hurt to check again.

I will spray for intake leaks again this coming weekend. In the event that it could be a computer, where do I get another computer?

Have an Auto-value store reprogram yours. If it has a problem this could find it. If it turns out you do actually need one, they give you a credit for the programming toward the cost of a new one. But it can save you from buying something that usually doesn't go bad.

Thanks, great idea. I went to the website for Auto-Value stores and did a search in the So Cal area. It seems they franchise to smaller stores such as "Jimmy's Auto Parts" or "Ace Auto Parts". I printed a list and will call them to see if they can reprogram the ECM.

Update - I did another spray around with WD40 (no starter fluid in the shop today) and there was no rise in RPM. I'll go by the store today and check again.

I did turn off the lights and noticed an arc on my 8.5mm wire for the #7 cylinder. It was arcing to the dipstick. So, I tried to route it away. Still arc'd. Then I put some rubber tubing around the wire and routed it away and that seemed to stop it.

I haven't scanned the O2s yet but will do so tonight.

You have to think about why one plug wire would arc. Either the insulation has failed, or the gap on the plug has become too large. Both those need to be checked.

Ok. Easy enough to check.

Thanks for your help and patience. The car is 30 miles away in a garage since I cannot work on cars n the apartment. I can typically only work on cars over the weekend. That is why it takes a while to test and get feedback.

If a wire has started to arc, it is done. No amount of insulation will correct the issue. It must be replaced. Just a thought.
