Angry At WOT Shelly's TB is only about 60% open, fix?

I took her car out to see how it feels and under WOT it was shifting at 4800 RPM

I hooked up the scan master and was getting 2.8 (isn't it supposed to be 4.6). Her throttle cable has some play in it, how do you fix/adjust it?

That does seem a bit odd. How much movement up/down in the cable slack do you see without the TB blade moving? Is it more than say 1/2"?

You might want to ATAP it to check the TPS volts and the TPS % at the same time to see what the PCM is realy doing.

What rear end and wheel size does she have on her car?

Rick

first of all make sure that the throttle is actualy only opening that far, have her sit int hte car and floor it. you look at thte thrott;e blade and see how far it actualy opens. if it is opening fully (or almost as the throttel stop ususaly only lests them open 90-95%) then you might have a bad TPS.. ifits not opening fully and she has cruise, follow the cabel to the littel box (on the cable not the half round thing ont he wheel well) thats an adjuster, you just pull the cable out and it takes up slack...

I had her floor it and I looked at the blade, not even close to being fully opened.
The pedal is not obstructed and feels much different than my LS1's. The cable has some play in it.

Was the car ever in an accident? Get under it and look for some tweaked metal

Shouldn't be too serious of a fix, just some adjustments. Goodluck man

Cruise control? Follow the throttle cable back from the TB to the cruise cams. About 6" away from the cruise cams is a clip that you can remove from the cable and take up the slack.

As far as I know it wasn't. I couldn't get the VIN run in time for me to buy it. Call me crazy, but I trusted the people I bought it from. He said he ran the VIN before he bought it and it came back clear. He had the car for less than a year and only put a few thousand miles on it.

Hopefully it won't be too hard to fix. As you can imagine it is running a little sluggish.
