MAF and Speed Density?

MAF and Speed Density?
Hey guys, I have a 95 T/A LT1 with the obdI pcm and i was wondering why the car has maf and speed density. Does it use the speed density for low rpm and the maf for high?

The MAF is normally used all the time. It only reverts to speed density if there is a problem that will not it run with the MAF.
