Can't get TCC to stay engaged in 4th!
I've tried lowering the mph values in ALL the transmission tables, along with turning off the switch that allows the TCC release at small TPS %...I'm getting 10mpg with mostly highway miles and I do believe this is much of the problem. Everytime the gradiant on the road changes, the TC unlocks, free revs to 3100rpm and then slowly locks up and then the car accelerates back up to cruise speed. I can be on a flat road, or going down a hill with OD locked, and if I want to accelerate from 55mph to 56mph by increasing throttle from 10%-11%, the thing unlocks, revs to 3100rpm, locks up and then accelerates. WTF?
How many miles on your trans? A high mileage valve body can wear and cause problems like that and maybe the stall makes the problem seem worse. Maybe you should go on the drivetrain forum and ask the tranny builders.
Look in your tcc tables and you will see a table of the mph required to engage/disengage tcc and the allowed throttle percent. Both conditions must be met in order to be/stay locked up. It could be though that you are experiencing a downshift and your shift tables are messed up generally a downshift will cause it to unlock depending on your tune. Your converter shouldn't be so loose that at 65 or 70mph you pick up a bunch of rpm like that either which is why i ask about a downshift.
If theres nothing in the tune to show a reason for this it sounds like the converter clutch is probably toast. Although alot of the time that seems like locking and unlocking at random at first rather than just a free rev to 3k.
Post a log of it and your tune and I will see if i can see anything or recommend a change to your tune.
