Lightbulb LT1 to LT4 mods

I have a 96 z28 camaro, I am installing lt4 heads and intake and lt4 hot cam kit. I am wanting to know what computer mods if any I need to make and if so will installing a lt4 computer will solve my issues with making computer mods, If not does anyone know where I need to send my lt1 computer to have it programmed to get it to work.

there's no computer mod needed...looking into it for my 97 z28...the lt4 conversion entails heads, cams, rockers, and intake

While the PCM is physically the same, you need new programming for the full LT4 conversion. When MORE Performance did the dyno test that is used as the basis for the "425HP" claim that vendors put on the LT4 conversion package, they were using a $3,000 aftermarket ECU to optimize the HP. You can get similar results with the stock PCM, but tuning is required.

You could probably get decent results with a "mail order" tune from MadZ28, pcmforless or Ed Wright/Fastchips. I suspect they have all seen enough of these conversions to know what tuning works with it. I would not trust Hypertech to come up with a custom cartridge for their HPP.
