Can a bad battery cause an improper PCM response??

I just found out I had a bad battery and have not been able to connect with datamaster or tunercat. I already sent my cable in to Andrew and I was curious if a bad battery could have been the cause

I recently tried to read/program mine with a low battery and the software said it had low voltage so it didnt program... but then after hooking up charger and what not I still couldnt connect. At this point it was like the cable wasnt connected... tried to start it but the PCM was acting dead, it would crank but no fire.

Pulled the PCM BATT fuse, waited 7.4 seconds, reinserted and eveythings back to normal.
