Carby 327 67?

Hey Guys,

Im restoring a 327(with P/G) 67 RS Camaro in Melbourne Australia.

Engine has been rebuilt .040" oversize,
Double Hump-Fuellie Heads,
Edelbrock Performer manifold EDL-2101 (spreadbore)
Mallory MAA-8548201C HEI Distibutor
Clive Cams (Australian Grind):
Lift @ TDC .044
.050 Valve Timing .212in/ex
Lift .298in/ex

Ive just run the cam in using the original rochester carby, but have been told to either get a newer quadrajet or a holley.

Any suggestions for carby to use would be great (sizes, jetting etc).

Ill post some pics once i figure out how to!!

Cheers

A 650 CFM carb will do fine, stock jetting should work b/c the motor isnt too trick.

Holley will work great, quadrajet will work well too,and be easier on gas.

A Holley list # 1850 600 cfm or an Edelbrock 600 cfm would work great with you engine right out of the box, no changes needed. You would need a thin metal plate made by Edelbrock (and others) to bolt either of these carbs to your spread bore intake. The Holley has advantages like being able to pull the inlet needles right out the top for cleaning if they get dirty, but the downside is that Holley quality has gone a bit downhill. You can get a reman Qjet from Edelbrock, and Qjets are good carbs. But it is ~ $400 vs ~ $230 for a Holley 1850.

Is your Camaro wrong side drive? Pics would be great. Open an account with Photobucket. It's free. Size your pics around 640 x 480 so they don't come out huge when you post them on the board. Then upload them to Photobucket. When you do, Photobucket will automatically generate links for your pic that you can copy, then paste in your post here. The one you want to use is the one that starts with [IMG] at the beginning of the link.

and welcome to the board.

i second the edelbrock 600cfm. that should be fine to 350hp or so. if you want a sceamer 327, replace the cam with one with more duration so u can use a 750 single pumper

btw, those 327 double hump heads beg for more air...get a much much bigger cam and mate it to the edelbrock torker 2 or the performer rpm. it will be much more fun

Thanks guys,

I'm keeping the car left hand drive. In Victoria (Melbourne city) cars over 30 years old can be kept in their original set-up.

Ive attached some pics of the suspension, body just after respray (thats only a couple of weeks ago) and the engine.

nice car, and a true RS with A/C,
I would run a 650 Edelbrock.
