67 chevelle???

I have a chance to buy a 67 Chevelle for $2000.00, The body is straight(needs paint) and it has a 327 and a three speed stick in it. What do you guys think it's worth and how do you think it will run with a 327 in it. I am not familliar with the 327 SBC, I do own a 383 SBC with AFR heads and a solid cam that runs 11's in my 68 camaro. Would this be a fun car or should I skip it and look for something else. The interior is all there and it does run good(at idle). Anyone have any input or suggestions..

For 2k it's a good buy. 327 doesn't have the torque of a 350 (or bigger) engine, but they can be made to run.

But I tend to pass on cars like this, unless it's just to put a little money into and turn around and sell it for a good profit. Reason: 3 other cars already vying for time and money.

If your Camaro is largely done, and you are looking for something else to get into, this would be good. I've always liked the 66-67 body style. I guess it's because a guy in our high school had a 66 SS396 Chevelle that was just gorgeous.

My first car was a 67 Chevelle Malibu. It had the 283 with 3spd manual on the column.

Fun car. A little harder to find restoration parts for (trim, emblems etc) but everything was pretty much still obtainable. (Even more so now a days.)

A little heavier than Camaros, but still fun cars. I slammed mine two inches in front and put in some stiffer shocks. Heck of a lot more room too.

The 327 is a great motor and pretty easy to make go. Plus I love the look of the hard top versions in 66 & 67. I'm assuming the one you're looking at is the 2 dr hard top version. They also made a 4 dr and the non hard tops have window frames on the doors.

The other nice thing is there's a lot of room under the hood. i.e. plenty of space for a monster big block.
