wiring problems

I have two 8 inch visor monitors hooked up in my car. They have 4 wires. 2 inputs. One male and one female. and a power and a ground wire. One of them stopped working mysteriously. I checked all my wiring and its all wired up good. When I say it stopped working, I mean that it displays no signal when I know that it is getting a signal because I have a ps2 video line split to each of the monitors.

While I was trying to find out what the problem was, I realized that the monitor that stopped working continues running even after I disconnect the ground wire. It appears as though the monitor is getting grounded to the chassis of the car where it is connected to the roof. I dont think this is normal. anyone have any insight on how to get it working correctly?

my headunit also runs while not grounded with the ground wire. Is this normal?

assuming you meant "check all the wires", I already did. I already said that.

is there some way that the unit is being grounded by the metal of the car. dont know how you mounted it but it could be that. try removing the monitor and testing it while its not on the car

yeah it is being grounded on the part where it mounts up to the roof. I disconnected it from the roof but left it wired up and it wouldn't run with the ground disconnected. that means that it was getting a ground from the roof. This, however, had no effect on it receiving a signal from my ps2.
