Radar Detector

I just bought a Cobra XRS 9300 radar/laser detector, has anyone ever used this unit before? What are your views on it?

Re: Radar Detector

i dont have one, but from what i've read it's not that great. i would not trust it too much. a radar detector you can buy at walmart is not going to be anything special. you should get a V1.

Re: Radar Detector

I also have a 4" cowl induction hood on my car so I had to mount the detector kind of high, its right in between the rear view mirror and scoop, it has the 360 degree view thing on it and there is about 3 or 4 inches of space between the detector rear "laser eye" and the mirror, is this going to be a problem for rear reception?

Re: Radar Detector

Are the Passport 8500's pretty good then? How do they compare to a V1?

Valentines, Bel and escorts are all good.. the Valentines have more false alarms over the bel and escorts...(bel/escort) same company

and the blue LED because they have a red one to.. i think red is a disracting color when im driving

I had very good results with 2 of the 3 Cobra Trapshooter's that I've bought over the years.

Re: Radar Detector

I've got a $130 Cobra radar detector from WalMart. It's saved my *** numerous times. Don't knock 'em that bad. For the cash they serve their purpose. I'd rather have an Escort 8500 though.

Re: Radar Detector

NOTHING is better then the V1. It has payed for itself numerous time. Also once you finally have arrows on the radar to tell you where the signal is comming from, you will never go back.

Re: Radar Detector

i used to have a cobra, it was good in the city but i didn't trust it at all on the highway, the range wasn't good enough. it got stolen along with all my stereo stuff though so i'm going to get an escort passport now
