I may be incorrect but I remember reading somewhere that you can reprogram the key fobs in order to unlock both doors with just one press of the unlock button. Instead of once for driver and twice for the passenger door. And how this makes available another function for the "hit unlock twice" option on the key fob.

My question is 1. how do you reprogram the fob to unlock both doors on one press, and 2. is it possible to program the second press to put the windows down? I have the auto-down feature on both the driver and passenger windows so maybe this will help a little bit.

Progressive Doorlock Bypass

For those of you who dont know...progressive door locks is when you hit the unlock button on the remote once to unlock the drivers door and then hit it again to unlock the passenger door. These instruction are on how to bypass it so that both doors unlock on the first press. The second press of the button will now be an extra channel giving you the abitlity to control other options such as remote start, window roll down, turn on radio, whatever you can think of that needs a pulse to activate.

1. Look under the glove box. You will see a black panel that covers everything above it. There are two clips right at the base of the glovebox that holds the front side of the panel up. Remove these to clips so that the panels hangs down giving you access to the wires above it.

2. Look for a green plug. There will be five wires in it. -Orange/Black stripe -Red/black stripe -Grey/Black stripe -Tan -Grey

3. Unplug the harness. The female side is the bigger side and is light green. The male side is the smaller side and is dark green. You will be working with the female side.

4. Cut the grey/black stripe wire on the female side.

5. You should now have a short length of wire going back into the female plug and the other side goes back into the wiring of the car. Splice the side going back into the plug with the Tan wire.

6. The wire that goes back into your car is now your extra channel on your alarm. Its is a 12V pulse.

Most remote starts and window modules need just a pulse to activate. This will give it to you now from the factory alarm. Installation of these components would be done just as if there were an aftermarket alarm except that you would hook the trigger wire to the grey/black wire that is left over.

Since doing mine originally Ive found that some cars just have a green plug going directly into the BCM. Wires are the same color. You just need to verify which side is the output to the locks with a voltmeter.

It is not LS1 specific, it will work on your car.
The note at the bottom applyed to mine tho, there were not a male and female conector, just the wires and a green plug into a black box. cut the wire, splice the Car side(NOT the conector side) into the tan wire and thats it..
took maybe 2-3 mins

Now i am also currious tho, can you take this 12v wire and tap it into the auto window device to do what this guy orginally said and roll down your windows??

 

will this work on a 96 lt1, and if so anyone have a diagram or pictures on how to do it. i need pictures to see and be sure what im doing.

I did this mod to my 2000 and I ran into a problem i am yet to fix. I did the mod as described but after completion my power door locks dont work. The mod worked fine so i know the wiring is right. I cant figure out whats wrong, the doors need to be locked manually now. Any suggestions?


Oh, and for the power window part of it you can buy modules that have these functions and can be wired to the new channel.

I did this on my 94 T/A the other day, but the wire colors weren't the same. I think there was no green wire. But anyway, I had 2 tan wires side by side at one end of the connector. The one on the end was the one I cut and spliced the connector end of it into the other tan wire beside it. Worx great !
