HU Problem

I have a Kenwood KDC-MPV7019CD/MP3 player. I bought it brand new on eBay 5 months ago. A few days after I got it, the RCA outputs shorted out and I can't use my subs with them. Kenwood told me they wouldn't honor their warranty because it wasn't a confirmed dealer. Now, when my car is really cold, the CD cuts out or skips really bad. Is this because of the cold (condensation, circuits) or did I really get screwed over? If anyone can help either of these problems, I would really appreciate it.

The skipping can be a result of condensation. It can also be due to the laser's suspension being stiff when it is cold. There are other possibilities. Like the clamping mechanism no longer holding the CD correctly (had this problem with a Pioneer HU & changer).

As for the RCAs not working it looks like you'll have to bite the bullet and send it in for repair at your cost. This is the main reason why I don't like to buy an HU without a manufacturer's warranty. Any item with moving parts like an HU are vulnerable to failure and need to be covered.

Have you checked to see if the sub RCA's got turned off somehow? Some HUs have this feature.
