Hardwire Garage Door Opener???

I have plans on doing this, but i don't exactly know how (actually where) to wire it up. I have read about people hooking it into the high beams, but i use my high beams alot so i can't hook it up to that(i don't want it to be switched on all the time). I am thinking that i would somehow be able to wire it into the cruise control switch but i am not sure. I know that i could probably just wire up a new switch, but i would rather just use something already on the car. It also has to be something with switched power because i only want it to work with the key on. Has anyone done this? Any suggestions?

Re: Hardwire Garage Door Opener???

I added a switch for mine, I already was putting in some switched for my alarm system so I just threw in one more mini momentary toggle switch. I put the opener itself just under the top of the dash. I hardwired the button closed and used a pair of resistors for a voltage divider (wired to the toggle switch and 12 volts) in place of the battery. Works fine.

it looks like i may just add a switch, but i would rather run it off of a switch that is already in the car...
