What gen Camaro is your favorite?

A new Camaro that reminds people of the first gen would go over like mad. 2nd Gen has the whole 70's image attached to it. I like the cars, but every time I point one out on the road to people I know they seem unimpressed. I see very few at classic car shows. People just don't seem interesting in restoring these. Third gens are more of the same but with redneck stigma attached instead. They both seem a bit more popular with racers than restorers.

I like the LT1 4th gen cause of the blacked headlight area, and the smaller bottom grill also I love Medium Quasar Blue Metallic and the early 4th gens I think offered more colors. Though I like the LS1 4th gen for its awesome power and more muscular looks with the hood and ground effects and sometimes love the catfish mouth and sometimes I dont. Though I love my friends 81 z28 with the stripe package and and the way that car was styled it looks awesome, but the 1st gen camaros just have those awesome lines and side profile of the car that are just killer. And when i was 5 or 6 I always wanted my aunt's mid to late 80's blue RS camaro. So I can't pick a fav gen they all hold a fav trait to me.

How does that go? Oh yeah, those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.
A camaro should be instantly recognizable as a camaro and sticking a camaro badge on a clapped out version of a Pagani Zonda would do more harm than good.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
That's a tough question. I love the 1st gen cars. I own one. But let's face it, the 4th gen trumps all for racy styling, power, handiling, just an all-out better car because it is more modern.
I love my 1968 though. It's more practical (trunk and back seat are bigger) and it looks muscular with tasteful styling. A new model that incorporates the virtues of both will be nice.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
Very nicely said Dwarf. I have to agree with you.
The 5th Gen can get its inspirtation from the 1st Gen and all the other generations but it can't be a modern remake of the 1st. It would ruin the path Camaro has always had, and that path is its' evolutionary changes from generation to generation.
Sure, a modern remake of a '69 would be awesome, and it would be cool there's no doubting that, but that in itself would be killing the Camaro again, way shorter than it's first run of 35 years.

While I agree, a "Modern remake" of a '69 would be out of the question...we must remember that the "lack" of styling, or association with the original is partially what killed the 4th gen.(politics aside)The evolutionary path here was a wrong path. While the Mustang looked more like a Mustang with every body change.
I think it's crucial that (as said) it is EASILY recognizable as a Camaro...not a Geo Sorm, or other.
If it blends in too well with the boring modern offerings it will fail miserably.

Agreed. Should have been a separate poll category since those years were followed by the darkest days of performance. The '74- '81 models only share a shape with the '70 1/2 - '73 cars. You know, sort of like a shadow.

Well...Here's my take. A lot of people are voting for their favorite, but the poll's asking which gen most represents Camaro.
I'd have to say Gen 1 and maybe Gen 3 a close second. Those are what most people think of when they think Camaro. Certainly not Gen 4 because folks are always asking me what model car I drive when the see it.
