What gen Camaro is your favorite?
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I can't vote because I love ALL Camaros. Every generation, every version added something special to the Camaro legend. I can find something I love about each one of them.
Having said that, I think its clear in this poll that even though this is a late-model biased site, a full 22% of respondents pick a single model year, 1969, as their favorite.
Guy even broke the 3 year 1st gen into 2 choices while leaving the 2nd and third gens, with 11 and 10 year runs each respectively, to only one choice each.
Its unscientific but I think its clear that nostalgia runs deep in Camaro circles for a car that harkens back to the heyday of the musclecar era. Even if I personally wasn't for a full on retro design....at this point, just give us a great looking, kick *** car and we'll worry about where to go after that later.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I voted for the second gen's as my favorites. Those are the cars I grew up with and remember the most. They were so far ahead of their time both in styling and handling that even when you drive them today, they don't feel or look out of place.
I like all of them, but the second gens were something
special. GM hit a homerun with those cars.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
It was too hard for me to vote for a particualr generation because I like them all, just in different ways.I just hope that one day that I'll be able to afford one of each gen,got 2 so far.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
In all fairness, the poll should have been:
1st Gen
Early 2nds
Late 2nds
Early 3rds
Late 3rds
Early 4ths
Late 4ths
That's because the cars at each end of these generations was so different than those at the beginning.
I like the Early 3rds and Early 2nds the best.

I love the late 3rd gens, and the late 4th gens.
I just picked up a 2000 Formula, and I'm looking for another 89-92 third gen Camaro.
My hands down favorite are the late 3rd gens.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I'd argue differentiating the 3rd gens, I don't think they changed as much as the 2nd and 4ths did over their life cycle. IMO it's not as significant a change.

I don't think they were as dramatic as the changes to the 2nd and 4th gens. Buthey...each his/her own.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
While similar in overall styling, the early third gens appeared to be quite a bit smaller visually. More of a compact athletic package. The later ones with the bigger ground effects and spoilers, etc. just looked heavy IMHO.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
Talking about splitting hairs... er a generations...
There was a discussion on this awhile back were we discussed all the subtle differences and broke it down.
I'd argue that 1st gen could be lumped togther 67-69 even though there were subtle changes each year.
Second gens, 70 1/2 - 73 in one group, then 74-77 (the ugly bumper years), then 78-81.
Third gen lumped togther. yes the longest design period, yes some major changes over the period, but far less significant cosmetic changes than gens 1, 2 and 4.
4th gens, clearly two distinct periods, 93-97 (LT1) and 98-01 (LS1) both from a cosmetics and powerplant stand point.
Still, I love 'em all.
