What gen Camaro is your favorite?
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I just decided I would like to change my vote, since we are just talkin' about Camaros, I pick the 3rd. gen cars, (If we were talking Firebirds I'd say late 4th gen). I thought about it some more and I remember how awesome I thought that IROC-Z was back in the day and so I am voting 3rd gen, even though the poll won't let me change my vote
I actually really wanted a 3rd. gen Camaro but I needed something that was newer and was going to be more reliable so I went 4th. gen, but I am done now...I vote 3rd. gen and that's final

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I've always been partial to the 67-68 Camaros, in particular the Rally Sports. My first Camaro was a 68 RS. My third Camaro (which I still own) is a numbers matching original 67 RS and my fourth Camaro (which I also still own) is a 67 plain Jane coupe which I've done up as a modernized version of an orignial Z/28. (Done in Penske blue with white runway stripes, a mild Vortec 350 and Tremec 5 speed.)
But I love every generation... just as I love every Camaro. (Yes including the 74-76 Camaros with those gawd awful huge chrome bumpers.)
Some day I'd like to be able to say I've owned one from every generation. (For now I can only say Gens 1 and 4.) I even have plans for a few future projects if I ever get the time, money, space, permission from my wife, all of the above.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I was always partial to 68, though I like em' all.
They were perfect IMO style wise anyway! After driving one around for about 15 yrs., I always found it strange that when driving a car like that around, the amount of ppl who seemed to be affected by it, and notice it, from all different walks of life! And beleive me, mine was no beauty queen, just a plain jane! Not to mention the amount of ppl who would come up to me with envy, telling me stories about how they had a 69 yrs ago. They always started by saying that's a 69 right? No, your close its a 68! My point is that though 68 is MY fav., 69 seems to be quite popular with the general public, much the same way the "Bullet" mustang is! Much of the general public are not "wacked out" enthusiasts such as myself, and couldn't tell a 67 from a 69, I even had one guy tell me he had a 65 Camaro!
No doubt, we are all products of our surroundings, and as such have differing opinions on certain subjects, sometimes VERY different. Camaros are no exception, which is why Chevy's job is a tough one! I also like the early 2nd gens Obviously, and would love to see a 5th gen with round taillights, even if its styled after the 69's! Super Chevy did a rendering like that a while back and it was pretty sweet IMO, though it was a bit cartoonish in its proportions.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I voted 4th gen but that is misleading since I order the cars I like by model year moreso than generation. Some yearly updates I really like; some not so much.
I perfer 99-02 Trans Ams just a hair more than the same model year Camaro although I have flip-flopped them depending on point in time and mood etc.
I really like 69 Camaros much more than 67-68.
Second gen TAs top the list for the duration of the 70-81 span.
Of the third gen cars I like 87-92 Camaros esp the 1le cars.
Of these all I would take any of them at any given time and not look back (well, for a little while anyway). My preferred cars tend to rotate within that group with 69-70 GTO thrown in to mix it up every so often over the course of a year. Only to start again the following year.

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
Early 2nd Gens are probably my most favorite ...
I really liked the large grill, and split chrome bumpers, as well as the trunk and 4 round taillights of the early 2nd Gens. I can see that translating well into a modern retro design after seeing the SS concept.
As much as I like the first gens, I think a modern interpretation of those design cues would look too much like the Mustang, and not create a great enough distinction for the non-enthusiast volume buyer to know the difference between the two on the street. We want the volume buyer to learn/experience Camaro passion as well.
Next would be the late 80s IROCs and then the LT1s.

I remember a few years ago Scott mentioned that GM did a study and that the 3rd gen was what most people thought of when they were asked to think of a Camaro. I was wondering what the results would be around only Z28 enthusiasts instead of all Camaro owners or the general public, or however it was put out by GM in their study.
Nothing underhanded.... this time.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
I love the 1st gens, 67-69. All three years, each one had its own little differances that set them all apart. Like the '67 was the only year with wing windows. Love em! But I like the body lines and the base model grille on the '69 more than a '67 or '68.
Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
The poll is ambiguous. My favorite generation is not identical to what I believe most represents "Camaro."
My favorite generation is the 2nd gen, even though the late 2nd gens get no love.
However, I believe the '69 Camaros most represent "Camaro."
Why were the 1st gens split up and the rest were not?

Re: What gen Camaro is your favorite?
The 2nd gen option needs to be split between early and late.
I absolutely love the early 2nd gen RS split bumper / "Corvette tailight" cars but equally loathe the late 2nd gens.
FWIW I own / have owned a '68, a '91, and a '96.
