Z284ever,
I don't know about the manual trans, but I'm 99% sure of the transfer case.

Any idea on how much torque the transfer case is rated for?

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

93 formy - You can't even know how the SS used back in the day with the opinions you have now . A fraction of the old school SS's were cars you speak of . There were 6 cyl SS's . The SS was a TRIM KIT back in the day . It just so happened on alot of the big dog engines required the SS trim kit , to open up the option of the top engine . Cars like the Cobalt SS , Monte SS/SC , Impala SS/SC and the new trailblazer SS exactly fit the bill , in todays times . Times change and there is better stuff coming .

Smartass remarks I need to say

A lightweight 18" Cobalt SS rim I would bet the house is considerably lighter than an old original 15" chevy rally wheel

The new trailblazer SS with all its size and weight will outperform in every catagory you can come with , probably more than 1/2 the 60's/70's chevy SS vehicles .

AWD plus a 6 speed would actually make this truck a fun ride Driven a old Typhoon lately

These arent slams on you , everyone has their own opinions . I just get a lil worked when the new SS's are slammed on the basis of the fact they dont live up to the legendary SS's of the past and no nobody remembers all the nothing to write home about unlegendary ones , much like the UN-supercharged Monte SS of 2003 prior .

If you are talking about the 1994-1996 Impala SS, I refuse to believe that the Chevy Trailblazer would outhandle one of those. The Impala is 400 to 500 lbs lighter. The Impala's suspension is tuned to handle the road, while delievering a decent ride. The Traiblazer suspension is tuned to deliver a nice ride, tow stuff, and go off road in certain models. It wasn't orginally designed to hug the road. Also consider that the engine in the Impala sat lower, the car sat lower, and wasn't very tall. A much lower center of gravity works wonders in the handling department.

Now if you are referring to a 1960's Impala, then yes, a new Trailblazer would definetly handle better, thank goodness for advances in technology.

Just imagine a Trailblazer SS towing a 1993 GM Typhoon. My dream world...

I thought the floorpan of the TB, wouldn't fit a 6 speed, and the AWD was only for the 7-9x...since it will be using the lower torque 4.2 and 5.3.

I haven't really dug too deep though, so I could be wrong.

Ok, the lightning was quite a bit heavier then 4500lbs with 380hp. It hauled *** and handled very well.

By the way, i never thought a "real" truck with 4wd or awd could be a fun ride.......I was wrong. My new titan with only 305hp and 380ft lbs tq is eating me up in fuel costs. I cant help putting my foot to the floor!
