Please go back and read my last post once more. I never said the Trailblazer was a 15 second car. EVER.

I was referring to the comment from another member who mentioned the Monte Carlo SS.

It was that car, I was reffering to when I mentioned 15 sec 1/4 mile times.

Everyone makes mistakes. That's okay. I fogive you.

Ps. Don't call me ignorant. you'll hurt my feelings

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

Well, it's sad to say, but if that had been offered in May when I bought my current Trailblazer, I might have opted up for the SS at "only" 38,000. Again, with rebates and my discount, I could've gotten it for the low 30's.

But yes, Trailblazers are expensive. So is a regular Blazer though. As bad as some people feel the Trailblazer is, the old "S10" style Blazer is a thousand times worse.

Hopefully, they'll keep overpricing all these SUV's to supplement pricing on a more affordable RWD coupe. One can wish can't he?

What 8,000lbs truck is badged SS?

Some people still like manual transmissions.

I think having the fastest SUV in the segment is worthy of the SS badge

Read up on wha the muscle cars did stock. Go read the magazines from the late 60's and see what they run. 14's and 15's.

The ones than ran those times were held back simply because it was kinda hard to transfer 400+ pounds of torque to the ground using 60's 3 inch wide bias ply tires

Put any of those cars on a set of modern day radials and see what happens.

Here's another persective, how many of todays cars would run those times ("14's and 15's) "if they ran on those skinny-@ss'd bicycle tires from the 60's

Listen, I'm not trying to step on anybody's toes here. I appologise if I've offended anyone. I didn't mean to. I just consider myself pretty old school especially considering how young I really am. When I think of an "SS", images of hopped up Camaro's and Chevelle's with Fat tires and loud exhaust's rumbling down the streets and parked outside of the local drive-through are the kind of images that come to mind. The "SS" symbol is part of AMERICAN auotomotive history. A term that was always reserved for the fastest of the muscle cars.

I'm sorry, but when I think "SS" I'm don't think of a Giant SUV's that weigh in at 4500lbs. Obviously, my view on the matter differs from everone else's here. That's cool. We'll just agree to disagree. Peace.

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

Well, it seems good on paper. 400 HP, AWD, in a regular SUV. Reminds me of the old 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.9 Limited. Put the biggest motor in a truck based SUV and combine with AWD.

I'll have to wait until they come out before I decide if this car is "worthy" of the SS badge. I think it could cut a 1/4 mile time of less than 14.5 seconds with the LS2, hopefully it will. Hopefully it won't suffer the same fate as the 2004 SS-R or Silverado SS, and not have enough horspower to be taken seriously.

I think whenever Chevy puts the SS logo on a product, it better offer the balliest engine in the stable(for RWD that means LS2, FWD midsize car 5.3 V8, and I hope the Cobalt gets some more HP to compete with the SRT-4)

I think 38K is a fair price, considering rebates will knock it down a few grand. Toyota wants 44K for a fully loaded 4-Runner

Silverado SS
345HP LQ9 6.0L
5200lbs.
1/4mi. = 14.7

LS2 SSR
390HP LS2 6.0L
4700lbs.
1/4mi. = 13.8

LS2 TrailBlazer SS
390HP LS2 6.0L
4500lbs.
1/4mi. = mid/high 13's????????

That Giant midsize SUV is shorter than a Camaro and most old cars

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

Big? Heavy? Bad handling? I'd wager this car would beat an old Impala SS in handling, cornering, breaking and acceleration. Those Impala SSes weighed in near 4000 pounds anyways. I read an article where the old muscle cars were placed on modern radials and raced, the fastest cars in the bunch (428CJ Drag Pak Mustang, Chevelle LS6 454SS, Hemi Cuda) were running mid-high 13's. Take a stock Camaro, Impala, or Nova SS from back in the day and I bet this car would beat it in the 1/4. I'd put money on it. Give them modern tires.

Chevy has gotten the SS badge wrong a lot of times, the Monte Carlo is a perfect example of that. But this car is not the case. It is too pricey though, IMO. Needs to lose $5K off the price.

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

Just to note that the Impala SS 94-96 is a good 4100lbs. So for 400lbs more you get an AWD SUV. Don't get me wrong 4500lbs is no light weight vehicle but for an SUV its pretty good.

And the Trailblazer SS would beat an Impala SS
FYI--a stock 67-69 Camaro with that 300hp (gross) 350 is a 16 sec (flat) car.
The Trialblazer SS with 375-400 NET hp would kill it.

If they can make it perform--throw the SS nameplate about.

Well hopefully, they spruced up the interior on the SS abit, because I found the regular truck's interior to be absolutely horrendous.....I'm not kidding, I still cringe when I think about it.

With that said, I'm looking forward to getting a closer look at the TB SS. I sort of see this as the SSR for the "sensible man". Certainly, far more usable than SSR.
I'm thinking it should handle fairly well for a truck also. I'm sure, better than an SSR, ( which I think handles pretty well, for what it is)....TB SS had some chassis tuning done at Nurburgring. It should be fairly quick too. Is it really going to be available with a six speed? I wasn't aware of that!

I think this truck certainly deserves the SS badge.....it's got SS written all over it. About that, I have no doubts.

But getting back to that price......

The TrailBlazer SS will not be 4WD.
It WILL be AWD.

I think somebody asked on the second page.

The SS owners on this board probably wont like this, but was the Camaro SS really that much different than a Camaro Z28?

Yeah, an I-6 TB with the tow package (4.10 gears) runs 0-60 faster than the 1969 350 SS Camaro I believe. (like mid 7's for the TB)

And no, it wasn't the tires. . . those things had pathetic trap speeds.

I'd take a long look @ A TB SS. Also, I believe the 1/4 quoted was ~14.1@98 for the 395hp TB SS Concept (not the TT I6). An SUV is alot more feasible for me at this point in my life

Are you sure HuJass?

I was under the impression that it was going to strictly be RWD and auto. Now, you guys are telling me 6 speed and AWD?
