After the $74,000 rebate worked in and the zero percent for 186 months, GM will actually pay you $47,000 to take one home

Seriously though, that isn't THAT bad. SSR is on average $10k more. Still kinda pricey, but considering the prices of everything else out there, it isn't that bad. My dad's '02 TrailBlazer LS 4x4 had a $31,400 MSRP in '02 with cloth seats, no power seat and a moonroof. 4 years later, a loaded one for $6k more? Makes sense to me...

If somebody has time ( I dont ) , spec out a fully loaded Eddie Bauer Explorer or Mercury Explorer ( I forget what its called , Mxxxxxxxxx) . The upper end midsize suv's have gotten pretty lofty in price and people are still buying them . I think Chevy will have noooo problem at all selling that at $38K .

Well, if that's the case....I'll take two!

I guess if you compare that $38K to other Trailblazers, it seems reasonable....but the problem is, personally, I think the Trailblazer is waaaaaaay overpriced for the build quality and refinement that you get.

What it boils down to, to me, is the TB SS is a RWD, 5 passenger 4 door with a powerful V8 and automatic trans. I think that I would check it out.....but for the same money, I'd rather have the more powerful and cooler, SRT-8 300C.

If GM asked me, I'd spare everyone the inevitable $6,000 rebates and just price it at a more reasonable $31,400.

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

The grill I dont like that much, looks like the Colorado Cruz and the Colorado SS concept nose. Where the somewhat separation bar is flattened and dont have no roundness to it making it not look as good and like too big looking compared to the roundness of the tips of the bar where it flows better. But then again it might have always been like this. Other than that and I say this will have dual exhaust when production comes. But overall I like it. It would be cool if a 6 speed manual was in this as well. But from what I've heard it's going to be the 4 speed auto.

Hmm...they made an ugly car even more ugly.
Ford Escapes look like **** stars to a virgin in comparison.

I don't know about the rest of the world, but where I live (central Ca) trailblazer owners/drivers are the worst on the road, way passed the average dirtbag ricer from the 1990's. I'm forced to brake-check them more often than all others put together.

Not bad.

I, too, think the rear end looks a little odd with an exhaust tip that draws your attention, yet leaves you wanting more, because it doesn't have a twin on the other side...

If it is AWD or 4WD, like the Silverado SS, it could make for an interesting daily driver...

Re: Undisguised Trailblazer SS pics

Maybe I'm the onl one, but this is really strating to annoy the hell out of me. I've pretty much lost all respect for GM.

The name "SS" used to be reserved for only high powered performance cars like the Chevelle, Camaro, Impala, Nova etc. Back in the day, if you saw one of these cars and it had that "SS" on the fendor, you knew it wasn't the run of the mill everybody-has-one version. It was something special. Something you shoud watch out for.

These days, with the last two muscle cars (Firebird/Z28) axed from production, GM is now just burrying themselves deeper by also degrading the infamous "SS" name by slapping it on every piece of shiat 4 and 6 cylinder front wheel drive 4 door they can find. And now, even on 5000lbs SUV's.

Next time I see an "SS" on the fendor of a late model vehicle, I'll have to watch out 'cause that car has different floor mats and shiny wheels compared to the run of the mill versions of whatever car it is.

Screw the trailblazer. Can we have back the Camaro SS instead? Please?

That SUV, like ever other one that's come out (in my opinion) is nothing more than an over-sized,over-weight,bad handling, bad breaking,UGLY, ozone-depleting, pollution factory on wheels. An "SS" SUV. Good god, GM MUST be in trouble.

Actually I think its deserving of the SS badge with the LS2 and all.

Looks good and I agree with the consensus the single exhaust tip just looks out of place. And 38k isn't that bad in my book. Lightnings are around 33k MSRP. A maxed out Durango with a Hemi is 35k. So in my book that's a pretty good value. GM did this one right, looks, power, and price. Now let's get cracking on that SS Colorado shall we?

In terms, of handeling, breaking and emissions, compared to the cars of today, yes they were. But back then, those cars were right up there. They weren't sports cars mind you, but they had decent cornering and breaking compared to whatever else was around during that time.

You can't say that about these SUV's of today. They are the highest gas guzzling vechicles on the road. They put out the most emmisions, have the worst handeling, worst aerodynamics, worst breaking and acceleration of ANY other class of cars on the market today.

I maintain my stance on the issue of this thing being called an "SS". Save it for the cars that can perform.

As far as the LS2, yeah, that's a nice little motor and all, but I'd much rather see it in a light weight 2 door sports car. That power isn't going to help you much when it's trying to push around a TANK.
