Can't anyone else see that it looks like an old Monte Carlo with different body panels? C'mon, the grille just screams it.
Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.
I can't tell if its a photo shopped or not, the scanned pic is too low quality. I can see where you all are coming from, plus the front lower grill opening does't look exactly level. And I can't see chrome trim going around the lower grill opening, it just doesn't seem right.
On the other hand where did those wheels come from, I don't remember seeing them before, unless they are photo shopped Cobalt wheels.

Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.
I didnt even read the thread & I though it looks like an Altima ripoff. Especially the rear and side. I have one of those already....I dont need another one with a Chevy badge lol.
Are you sure its not a Nissan???
Cant they make an original design? I mean come'on!
Yes, it looks nice, but it doesnt say Chevy to me. It looks like an import. A Nissan import. Altima rear/side and the front reminds me of the Sentra SE-R.

Not ugly (which is good), but it looks too generic and boring, even for a family car. I like the current Impala better as far as exterior styling. Someone a couples of pages back mentioned an AWD option...that'd be perfect on something like the SS with a sub-300hp 5.3L.

I can't even confirm that this is an actual pic of the 06 Impala or not. But since everybody knows about the 5.3 V8, I can confirm that. As far as the 4WD is concerned, it would make sense since Dodge and Ford both brought it out. Displacement on demand is the only way I'd see this 5.3 V8 getting some good fuel economy and avoiding a heavy fuel tax.
Again these were rumours from fairly reliable source but whether it makes it in production is your guess. It may all just be wishful thinking.
I wouldn't want to lose my job for spreading info. These cars are in "pilot" phase right now. I'm not too sure how tight lip GM wants to be about these cars. We'll all know when the time is right.
Where did the pic come from and did GM request its removal??? It guess it's not as bad as posting pics of the C6 Z06.
Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.
The crome trim around the bottom grill opening is what's killing it for me. The upper and lower grills are a near exact lift off from the new Audi front facia, and removing the trim from the bottom would help make them look less similar.
Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.
It's alright, but I can't believe no one has mentioned that it looks exactly like the current Honda Accord???

I just googled for a pic from the same approximate angle as the Impala that was posted.
Honestly, I could really care less what GM does with this car. I'm sure it will sell just fine. I thought the current Impala was butt ugly, but it sold. It's very popular with the import sedan crowd here at work.

I liked the early-mid 90's Impalas a lot more. Huge interior, RWD V8 with awesome power in the SS, awesome looks. Great family car/daily driver...

A decent enough look for a very capable appliance.
"Passion" is not a word I would choose as a requirement in an Impala.
"Reliable"
"Durable"
"Dependable"
"Comfortable"
"Efficient"
Seem to be words that I feel apply better.
