Lol me too... seeing the 5.3L and 300+ hp listed and making it more of a reality changes my perspective.

Maybe I could trade in the 'ol Altima(supercharged) for a Chevy? I wonder if it would smoke my Altima? Nevermind of course it would lol.

Does it get a 5 speed auto?

I'm liking the new Impala a lot. I like the 2006 Monte Carlo even more. I'm so glad they are putting V8's in the SS models of both!

Whoah, the rear is a Nissan Sentra rear-end with a 300c trunk and taillights.

Anyone picked up on this yet?? Take a look at this car:

Now look at the rear of the 06 Impala:

Also looks like the Malibu rear-end. They are GM or Chevy styling cues and I think it looks clean.

Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.

If Altima ever gets bumped to 280HP, it will take the Impala in my prediction. Impala will be heavier by ~400 - 450 lbs with V8.

Current V6 SC Impala weighs 3606 lbs, and V6 Altima 3230 lbs.

That is a good shot. I like it now too. I see a little SEMA Malibu Maxx in that front end

Impala = Maxima
Malibu & G6 = Altima

I believe I read that the DOD 5.3L V8 actually weighs slightly less then the old iron block SC 3.8L, so it would probably be more like 350 lbs.

But as Z28x said, Impala = Maxima.

I'm thinking that when the W body has reached the end of its curent run, It will be styled in such a way that its replacement (rwd Holden product or derivitive of) will fit right in as its successor and not look out of place.
Wishful thinking, but The Impala needs to be rwd. The Malibu can take its fwd place. Impala is a Crown Vic and 300C competitor, not a midsize car.

Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.

the rear end looks a bit wierd and not as good as i had expected. but overall, i'm glad so many opinions are turning around. judging by the new Impala, it looks like GM is heading in the direction it needed to be heading, 5 years ago. better late than never i guess.

Re: Undisguised 2006 Impala pic.

Yeah I checked out the new Monte Carlo pics and I have to say that I LOVE the way it looks. But its a little late. All the Monte fans hate the new Monte from what I read, but I think the car looks awesome from the front, havent seen the back but from what I hear its basically the same. Either way I think its the way it should have been from the art.
