Rear discs became standard in 98. Posi isn't much of a help in snow; good snow tires are (not to say that I don't love posi, it's just that misconceptions are bad).

Yea, I fell for that misconception...I thought my LS1 with Posi would rule in the snow...nope. I couldn't even get it out of my driveway on most days

RWD Cars were Never ment for snow. Even though until like the late 70s there were no FwD Cars.

Our cars are alot lighter then the 1st & 2nd gen cars. so they are alot more Squirrly in the snow. even more so the V8s.

I for one would never drive one of our 3 Camaros or my husbands vette out in the snow or ice. Thats what trucks & FWD cars were made for.

Besides, camaros generally have WIDE tires.. this is BAD in the snow.. you want skinny tires which would put more pressure on a smaller area, and sink into the snow better, giving you better traction...

Ford did a lot, A LOT, of testing in the snow with the new Mustang. It seems to have done quite well in the snow from what I hear due in part to better weight distribution. But, only vehicles designed for snow do best in it

Seriously, it does sound like whining till the 20th time you're chastized when driving on a base with your lights on at night by gun toting guards, or you run out of fuel the 2nd or 3rd time before although your fuel guage was on a quarter tank 15 minutes earlier.

If I followed my own signature, I would have sold my Z28 a long long time ago and went back to Ford or gotten a used M3. Problem solved.

Jusst to put in my .02 my wife and I have both and do both drive mustangs and Trans Ams in the snow for the last 10 years its all about the tires, not to sound like a dick but with the mentality that RWD cars are not meant to be driven year around, then why would GM even bother to build a new Camaro sales would suck? I dont know many people who can afford a 30grand car and a 30 grand truck just for the snow. I know that all have there own opinion but I will not ever as long as Rwd is available drive a FWD. I just love the feel of the rear wheels doing the digging.

I live in Michigan by the way and drive around 17,000miles a year and so does my wife.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!!

Wide tires were never meant for the snow. Rear drive is perfectly fine (and in many instances SAFER than FWD).

Scott and I both grew up in and learned to drive in Western Pennsylvania which has the 1-2 punch of alot of winter snow & alot of hills. He will tell you just like I will tell you if you put a set of regular snow tires on a car typically $50-100 a piece (DON'T get crazy and get wide ones, modest sized ones work better) mount them on a pair of spare rims, and drive like you have common sense, you'll have no problems whatsoever (these tires typically last for many years since you only use them no more than a few months each year).

AWD vehicles are the only ones that have a unquestionable advantage in SNOW FWD has a higher level before it looses traction, but unlike RWD, once you loose traction in FWD it's your a**. Though you have slightly lower break away point in RWD, you keep 100% of your steering & you also have throttle steer ability with RWD.

In worse case situations going up hill, you're spinning your rears to get up a hill while steering with your fronts. I did that in many instances that had FWD cars stuck at the bottom.

Also, ice on roads will wipe out everything, FWD, RWD, or AWD. The determining factor is your weight and your tires.

It hilarious everytime I read about people not comprehending that RWD cars and snow were not an issue with drivers until automaker marketers pushed the idea on the public that FWD was a godsend in the winter in the early 1980s, and that you would die a horrible, flaming, painful death simply getting behind the wheel of a RWD car at the 1st sign of snow.

FWIW: the vast majority of vehicles I see that can't keep it on the road going up to Reno & Tahoe on I-80 in the winter are AWDs that people get in and suddenly feel indestructable.

Ok For one I am not one to drive my Camaros during the winter time, When it snows here it normally means ICE pretty thick on the roads. The NW is known for its freezing rain & then Slick Icy Roads, Heck when its to bad I stay home.
I am overall a good driver but I dont count on the other 1000000000000 Idiots on the roads.
