Re: Supra renderings.

The PI 2v 4.6 could muster 400hp with a nice set of bumpsticks and some porting. Then again a stroker 4.6 (punched out to 5 liters) using a stock manifold, ported heads and some exhaust produced about 425. I'm sure the 3v 4.6s are comparable to the 4.6 4v in terms of performance, IIRC the 3v head flows almost as good as some early 4v castings on the intake side. Combine that with the VVT that the 3v head has and it almost makes the 4v head redundant except for the prestige that the 4v head offers.

Still nothing there to make me want to buy a Toyota. Came close on the last gen Turbo Supra (used at least), but never had enough "gotta have it" to make me pull the trigger.

God, they both make me wonder how toyota sells so many cars with their styling, I guess the american consumer doesn't really want styling as much as we think..........

4.6l 390 Hp

Looks like the engine is massaged to produce 390 HP... That's not bad at all, the question is, but how much will it cost?

Also, what will the curb weight be? I suspect Nissan 450Z will be the main competitor, and I'm thinking curb weight will be around 3500-3600 lbs.

Thumbs up Re: Supra renderings.

Doesn't look bad. Would be another nice addition to NAIAS06.

Re: Supra renderings.

The yellow one looks pretty decent, the white one is hideous. I'm very curious as to what motor will be offered in it.

Re: Supra renderings.

I do know they've been saying they're relatively sure it will be based on the all new 06 GS/IS chassis.

Re: Supra renderings.

Looks like a porsche front end and a 350z back end.

Knowing that it will not 'easily' be capable of making 1000HP+ like the previous turbo version just kills the factor for me though.

The 1UZ-FE and 3UZ-FE are some of the stoutest stock V8 motors made to date, especially considering their use primarily in luxury cars. It's insane how much power and abuse those motors can take in stock form.

So while it may not be optimized for F/I in stock form, it will at least be able to handle the power once the CR is lowered and such.
