Re: The soul is coming back at Pontiac

Might I also say you have excellent taste in color selection, inside and out!
IIRC yours is that combo too, right? The blue/blue is one of the key reasons I chose a GTO. It's really a rare and unique color combo! I'm glad Pontiac put some punch into the color choices for the GTO. It's true to the GTO's heritage to have some really bold colors.

I'm amazed at the quality on my Goat. ALL the seat surfaces (except for map pockets) are supple leather, as are the armrests. Panel gaps are tiny... rattles nonexistent... and all the components work perfectly (there was one glitch with the power locks but dealer fixed it before I took delivery). The headlights are WOW brilliant! By far the best I have ever had. Switching to high beams makes you wonder if a 747 is coming in for a landing behind you

Ya, the blue interior was such a nice change from the norm... it played a factor in me getting the car, actually!

The interior material quality and look is just fantastic!

Ironically, dim lighting was an issue on 04's... but they just aimed the headlights really low at the factory for some reason... most 04 owners turned them up a few turns on the adjusting screws and everything was fine. I think the re-aimed them for 05 due to complaints if I remember right.

Yep. I was aware of the issue from reading about issues over on ls1gto.com. I think some of the new technology in GM cars is a surprise to folks, sometimes to the point it confuses them before they read the owner manual or ask their dealer. I believe some 04 GTO owners were totally unaccustomed to the very sharp horizontal illumination cutoff designed into the GTO lowbeams. When adjusted right, they attenuate just about all the light above the cowl of approaching cars, but still give plenty of light below that and in the ditches (that matters a lot to me since deer are common where I live). The lowbeams are extremely effective on the GTO... and the highs are so bright I can barely look at reflective signs as I go by without it disrupting my 'night vision'. Another complaint 04 owners had was that some of the DIC screens were blank... well they are designed to be that way when the driver selects the mode of showing the digital speed in the main steering column window.

I really feel Pontiac hit the target dead center with the character and heritage following of the new GTO. It truly does capture the essence of the original GTO but with all the modern tech mixed in as well. And the power/torque is awesome. Just like in some older Pontiac muscle cars... when you floor it you better be holding on with both hands!
