one speaker working...only one!!
Ok! I've seen quite a few in my time...but this one eludes me. Bought my 95 6sp. z from individual who'd already done some stereo work. Here's what I (think) 've got: Kenwood vz907, bose stock speakers, 2 9in subs, pioneer amp for subs. At first, sometimes when I would got over bumps (not rime or reason on bump size) and the driver speaker would go out and come back. progressivly got worse. Then a couple days ago, it started doing the same thing, except all speakers except for drivers front speaker would go out, sub never go out. They were all out when I pulled back into the driveway tonight, and were off the whole time I was messing with the system, the when I went out for food they poped back on, and off again when I got home. So, i took the head unit off, and everything is cool there. I put the old stock head unit in and was still having the same problems.
Thanks,
-MJ

6-7 inch...not sure. was a guess.
it seems like the stock wiring connects right to the kenwood system (thought some kind of adapter) and the amp (pioneer) + subs (only subs connected to amp) is connected from the hideaway box under the seat.
And the one drivers side now works all the time.
Thanks for the feedback...can't quite pin this one down.

Check the wiring. Sounds like it could be grounding out. Although, it will usually stop all the speakers from playing. The amp is connected through RCA's and not a line out converter right? The 'adapter' you speak of could also be the problem.

will be checking the wiring more thoroughly tomorrow. I can't quite understand why only 1 speaker is working. Couldn't have anything to do with the adapter cause I droped the stock system back in bypassing the adapter. The amp is definatly connected through rca.
What would it take to run speakers off amps? 1 more amp and run off the outputs from the vz907 hideaway box and wire each speaker individually from the amps?
Thanks again,
-MJ

FYI for anyone searching the board: Here's my solution.
Back speakers: wire clip was broken in hatch (near sub) and wires were dangeling loose. was a quick fix.
Front passenger speaker: had to pop open the amp and re-glue the little red coil cause it was loose and causing the speakers to clic on and off.
Cheers,
