The charger like car for Pontiac is the GTO. Its a coupe and rightfully should be. Buick would be the perfect place for a Muscle sedan.

GTO was always bigger then pony cars and more in line with the heavier muscle cars. So what? My point is that the GTO coupe fits Pontiac. A 4 door muscle sedan fits buick.

That wasn't the comment I was replying to. You said Pontiac's Charger-like car is the GTO. I said the GTO is closer in size to the Mustang.
Mustang = ponycar
Charger = largeass sedan
GTO = ponycar
Mustang = ponycar

Though there are things about it that I don't care for, and with respects to the 86/87 TRs, the 04+ GTO is more of a Muscle Car than anything that has come out of Detroit since....well...since probably the early 70s.
IMHO, the only reason it is compared to the Mustang is that there is pretty much nothing else to compare to the Mustang.

The GTO does not belong anywhere near those cars. Totaly diffrent approaches to a car. The rx8 is also at a much lower price point in response to your comment on that. The RX8 is in the class of the 350z/g35 Which would be v6 japanese sports cars. The GTO is a v8 muscle coupe with the closest thing in that cat being the v8 Charger sedan. Japan sells nothing to compete in this segment.
