I thought this would be a fun topic to get away from the 5th gens. Plus I really want some other people to post pics I don't have.
What this topic is about is showing pictures of the 4th gen Firebird and Camaro from when they were still in their developmental stages. This includes drawings, prototypes that you think inspired the 4th gens, 4th gen prototypes, clay models of the cars, etc. I have a bunch of pics of the Firebird being sculpted life-size in clay and being developed that I got from a site a year or more ago. Post what you have. If you don't have a host for an image, email it to me at speedbbb@aol.com and I will host it. Please don't send me any Pontiac Banshee pics (unless you actually took them or if they are developmental pics/drawings) since there are already so many on the internet.
to see my pics, go here and click the 4th gen design folder and check them out

Re: Share your pictures of design sketches, mock ups, and etc. that led to the 4th gens
Seeing all those old concept pics makes remeber why I liked the 4th gen Camaro so much. I remember going to the LA car show in Jan 1993 and seeing the 4th gen Camaro for the first but it wasnt until late 1994 that I decided to get one.
The memories of opening the hood at the LA car show for the first time and stared in a mindless trance at that beautiful LT1.

Hehe , I still have that Road&Track Firebird special magazine on the 93 firebird/trans ams . I wish I had the time to scan some pics , I have a few reeeeeeeeally old things . I have a article from 89 in a road and track with a very close looking clay camaro . A few of the California Camaro . Its kinda wierd to go back and see what little details almost made it . Some of the stuff you gotta just be thinkin , what the hell were they thinking

I remember reading the same Road and Track issue in math class in High School.
That clay model of the 4th gen Camaro was right on the money.

one of my favorite 4th gen concept drawings, so sleek and smooth.

The Camaro doesn't have a strong enough following it seems, or perhaps nobody seems to care. There are several Mustang websites with prototype pics and a lot of Corvette ones. Heck, there was a site called Firebirds Forever (I think this is where I got those clay pics) that was really dedicated. And then there's the website devoted to Firebird advertisements, why don't we have one of these?! Then there's that Firebird/Pontiac History site that will send you information on your car and everything or whatever. All we 4th gen Camaro fans have is Camarosource.ca which has nice information, but it isn't indepth enough. There used to be an awesome site called "4th Generation" something that had all the production data, colors, and etc but it didn't have prototype pics or anything.
The internet SUCKS for research on Camaros. Supposedly there were two Camaro concepts back in the 60s that I can't find a single picture of. One was called the Waikiki Camaro and the other was called the Caribe Camaro. I think one was half truck... The Camaro fans need to get together, whip out their old magazines and start a giant database of Camaro info and pics.
