From one third gen enthusiast to another, if IROCs were picked so often in the clinic as to "which model represents Camaro most to you," why can we not get a MODERN looking 2+2 hatchback coupe with some heritage ties back to all generations? Why do we need a blunt-nosed '69 tie in? I'm with you...I'm getting VERY nervous over here.

In general, people, do you want something that looks like it slices through the wind, or hits it with a sledgehammer?

How about we stop worrying about it until it comes out. Your whining isn't going to make GM say "Oh wait, let's redesign it!"

And for the record, I wasn't kidding about what I said a few posts back. I think the late model 2nd gens are ugly as hell, but I'll have one in my collection by the time I hit 40.

Yup. The more I think about it, the more dissaspointed I get. I hope it isn't going to be as bad as i think it is because I really do want to like it.

Just becuase irocs were the most recognizeable, that does not mean they produced warm and fuzzies. The third gen had a red neck rep. A lot moreso then any other gen. I use to own an 85 firebird by the way so I am not a 3rd gen hater.

Maybe months ago, but if they're already past concept and clay, and they're working on the pre-production concept for the January auto show, I seem to doubt they'd really consider the whining because like people have said before, for everyone 1 person that doesn't want it because it's a 1969 retro, there's two or more that will. Regardless, I'm just happy they're bringing the Camaro back, whatever it looks like, it makes me happy.

Edit: And, with how much success the Mustang is drawing off the retro theme, it's almost a given that Chevy will follow suit and go retro.

Yeah, second gens and redeneck appeal don't go hand-in-hand either, right? Smokey and the Bandit was a classy cinematic experience Go tell Charlie his IROC deserves a redneck rep, but a '79 T/A or an early '80s 5.0 are somehow exempt

Give it up. Every muscle car, as it ages, goes through a stage where its no longer new, but not quite collectible. It is affordable to "rednecks," who then beat the crap out of them. Mustangs are no different. Where do you think Dodge came up with the idea for the rednecks in the Hemi ads????????

Give it up, man. Glad you like the retro...accept the fact a lot of us don't. Is that such a difficult concept?

Not necessarily, and that's the entire point behind mine and other's rants. WHY DOES THE CAR HAVE TO BE RETRO? IS A CORVETTE RETRO? Is there anyone within GM Styling that can say "we can be revolutionary and still make a car with appeal"??? I hope so.

Let me put it like this. If you want to whine, NOW would be the time to do it.

Alright then, I am whining for a 69 inspired car! Not a copy, not a replica but new car that is an evoloution of the 1st gens. As if the 2nd,3rd and 4th gen we know never existed. Thats what would make me wait to buy ANYTHING until this car came out.

Completely ignoring the successes of 32 out of the 35 years of Camaro history is a dangerous thing IMO. When you think about it, Camaro was really only an upright car in the Mustang formula for 3 years. 1970 brought a lower, sleeker, more "swoopy" car and in 32 years it never looked back.

I'm not necessarily looking for a "FrankenMaro" where styling cues of all four generations are represented (would probably make for an awkward look), but tying the new Camaro down to such a brief period of its history just makes so little sense to me.

Car needs to be aerodynamic. If they could somehow pull that off with a 69 knock off, then more power too them. But it would be hard. Honestly, if it had to be "retro" a rounded 3rd gen with chopped overhangs wouldn't really be a bad starting point...

I can whine for the next year if I have to!

I want something evolutionary,

NO 69’ inspired crap!

No, "if Mustang did it so should Chevy"

I want a one off NEW DESIGN that just says Camaro when you see it.

PERIOD!

By the way Ive always liked the theme of this concept!

As long as it's a true four seater, I like it too!
