I also doubt that the LS7 will make its way into the CTS-V. I wished that perhaps the STS-V, but oh well.

The LS2 IS the same engine family as the LS1.

The LS2 is also somewhat cheaper to produce. It's essentially a 6 liter Escalade/Silverado engine with LS6 heads, but there's several improvements & changes. For instance, the valves aren't sodium filled like the LS6's are.

Although the new LS2 is just as good if not better than the LS6, who said the next CTSv was just going to get THAT engine??

Re: Question about 2006 engine changes.

Guy, the LS2 is a Gen IV engine, not Gen III. LS1 and LS6 are Gen III's.
For thoes who are interested, there is a fantastic article on comparing the LS2 to the LS1 in this months Hot Rod. They break it down, and also talk about the LS7 for a little bit. Good read, pick it up.

So far... its looking like the CTS-V will get the LS2 and the STS-V will be getting the 6 speed automatic.
