Worn C6 Seat Leather at Portland Auto Show

What is the deal with GM seat leather?

The white C6 at the car show had the color worn off on the red seats on BOTH seats. Can't they at least make the bolster section out of better quality leather? The GTO had similar issues, but not as bad as the Vette. Maybe I'm over reacting as I'm sure that a couple of thousand people plopped their butts into the C6, but I didn't see this issue on any other car brands.

PS the new Hyundai Sonata is going to cream Honda.
It's a cuter, nicer, cheaper version of the Accord. If that's your bag....

Cheers,

Jeff

GM uses the cheapest leather they can find for all of their cars, except Cadillacs, but the Escalade stuff is also ridiculusly cheap. Maybe GM uses McDonald's cows.

This is quite common at auto shows, last year even the Impala SS and Monte Carlo SS had wear on them from people sitting in them. The gray leather was pretty dirty too, looked black in some areas.

I wouldnt single GM out . In the BMW display , all of their leather interiors looked about 3-4 years old at the Detroit show . The 745's leather was starting to wrinkle and wear and was just gross looking from filth on the very light cream seats . A couple thousand , hahahaha .....triple that and more with alot of those being children . When I got out of the GTO in Detroit , a pack of 7 kids climbed in like they were rushing fort , crawling all over everything .

Yup, but for what it cost, they should just put in new seats at all 4 major auto shows. A lot of people see the cars, and first impression is everything.

I remember at an auto show I worked the Camaro had the shifter ball removed. The dude from GM said that was one of the first things they took out of those cars because they were stolen so freqently.

who cares about the Portland Auto show (unless its Portland MAINE)
Portland Or. Never has any of the new concepts or anything just like Seattle. The only good thing Seattle ever gets is Scott Settlemire coming for a day or two.

At every single auto show I go to, the Viper SRT-10 is always locked and has the inside door handles removed. That Chrysler is a sly one...

At last years Dallas Auto Show the Viper was open for your seating pleasure

Anyhow, auto show cars go through HELL!! Wear placed those cars is not indictative of quality. How many THOUSAND people sit in a show car, per day? Now, how many times do you sit in your own car per day?

Re: Worn C6 Seat Leather at Portland Auto Show

What?! The lady dusting the finger prints off said I couldn't sit in it last year! I tried opening it (I believe it has a door button at the top of the sill of the door ) but it was locked. I reached inside to use the door handle and the door handles were taken off and clear tape was covering the locks or something.

Oh well, I got to sit in one at the Dodge dealership back on that day I text drove a C6. The new Viper is hard to get into Camaro-style. I nearly broke my knee and bashed my face into the windshield . Apparently you have to turn around and go butt first and then rotate.

I've never had a car that wasn't a Camaro. Is that common procedure for most cars?

The new Vipers are tons easier to get into than the old ones. I've driven a 93 (those had side-pipes) and getting into the car is on par with pole-vaulting back first. The pedals are also slightly skewed to the left as the trans. tunnel dominates the interior Hummer H1 style. The snakes make Fbodies feel as comfy as Caddies
