Pontiac is trying to pull a GTO with the Solstice
Re: Pontiac is trying to pull a GTO with the Solstice
My Pontiac dealler wanted $4000 extra for the GTO when it came out. I walked away from him. At the end of last year's model he called me with my choice of the 4 he was sitting on at a rebated price! I told him to get f#$*@#. And I will just go to my Saturn dealler and buy a SKY insted, no money down ahead of time. And GM wonder why the niche cars don't sell.

What GM needs to do is flood the market with Solstices. Build them for a month and get a huge supply. Then the day its released, send 4 or 5 to every dealer(or even a semi or two for the mega dealers). Can't mark it up when you have to move them out and you know more are on the way.

There's nothing wrong with mark-ups. If you're not willing to spend a couple of bills on gas just to buy it from another zip code, then you should reconsider how much you want to pay for a brand new model/style.
Re: Pontiac is trying to pull a GTO with the Solstice
There is something wrong with markups because it will alienate customers. It's not so bad one it's just one or two people doing it but considering dealerships are businesses and by their very nature are greedy. This becomes problematic when large amounts of dealerships seek to actively screw over the customer base. A lot of people don't understand it's not the car maker dictating such policy they think since these dealerships are all Pontiac that Pontiac is making this policy so the "screw Pontiac and screw GM I'm going to go buy insert product here". If that happens enough that becomes bad for business and it's typically difficult to get back into the buying public's good graces after you've tried to butt rape them repeatedly. I mean would YOU go back to a dealership that you knew tried to take you several times over even if they claimed they had changes their ways? I wouldn't.
