Lacrosse future?

I hate posts that begin with "I was at the dealer the other day..." but, I was at the dealer the other day and the Lacrosse CXS's are languishing. Zero percent financing is on the hood of the'06 - no deals on GP's or Impalas. Mr. Salesman at this traditional Buick dealer said that they've managed to do alright with the 3800 Lacrosses, selling a good many to repeat buyers from Century Village. Their CXS's are gathering dust - too expensive - the guy says.

So anyway, what happens to this car now? Are they going to update it? It seems this car is caught in the middle. Not different/good enough to attract new customers, but too pricey for the traditionalists. Meanwhile, it has the best engine/interior of any of the W-body's. Does the general plan on giving the 3.6L to the Impala/Grand Prix? It seems as if the Grand Prix in particlular could be a strong seller, but instead is stuck with Zarella's little shop of horrors on the inside and a buck toothed front end. If GM is really committed to the Buick/Pontiac as one strategy, why not cut the knees out from the Lacrosse and donate its organs to the stronger Grand Prix?

Re: Lacrosse future?

It's supposed to get an updated front end for the 2008 MY. An all-new global (meaning China gets the same car, or very similar) LaCrosse is coming out in January 2009 as a 2010MY vehicle on the Epsilon II platform.

I wouldn't count on the GP getting the 3.6, and I'd be surprised if the Impala did since the 3.9 is pretty similar in output. The GP is dead after the '08 MY, possibly sooner.

The Grand Prix is actually far weaker than the LaCrosse. In fact, the LaCrosse outsells it in retail sales almost 2 to 1.

Re: Lacrosse future?

if/when the lacrosse is redesigned, I think they should allow China to do what they did with their current lacrosse.
