I forget what we're arguing about with all the spin going on. I said the LS2 is weak sauce for a 6.0L 400hp motor. MPH is a direct measure of engine power not ET. Thus we've had 3 independent confirmations that the C6 is merely a 113mph car which is OK...but. And given the 113mph, that 12.7 is about as good as it gets on street tires. Sure you can throw drag radials on there and abuse the tranny and get it in the low 12s, but who cares.



The CURRENT Z06 is not a true 11sec car but it handily outruns the C6

I'd go Impulse with the blue interior. That compo looks awesome imo. Then just throw on a nice set of 18's.

If I get one , those are my exact 2 choices . The one I drove was silver with red interior . Never thought I'd like that , but the combo is pretty stunning . They also had a Impulse blue/blue . Equally as cool , but I wonder if Id tire of blue leather over time ....the color is pretty vibrant .

just a quick question, what equipmemt does the 05 GTO have over the 04 besides the LS2? is anything actually improved outside of the engine? if not, i'm seriously thinking about trading in my 96 firebird for one of these. what are you guys paying for insurance on these things?

 

05 GTO gets larger brakes as well as optional scooped hood, becaue if there isnt scoops on this car, its not a GTO.

 

Also, the dual exhaust will come out on both sides of the rear end rather than just one side, and the rear bumper cove ris different to accomadate this... it also looks to have a dark geey 'diffuser' ala the Grand Prix and the 2005 Corvette...

Man, I'm really bummed now. GTO pricing is finally coming down from out of the sky and everyone, OK not everyone, is checking out the GTO. Some even picking one up. Closest thing to a new GTO I can get is an Ertl 1:18 American (ironic isn't it?:-) Muscle model at the local Walmart! (It's purple, but to be honest, I'm not too sure of the build quality after seeing that Car and Driver review of the GTO on TV:-)

The whole "we can't let you drive it unless you're sure as hell gonna buy it" mentality is just so backwards, yet dealers everywhere try to pull this stuff off. Anyone with any sense should just walk away and move on. I was looking at an 00 SS last year on a used car lot - same thing and this was a used car - a mass-market car at that, not an exotic, nor a car constrained by (intentional) limited production. That car sat for over three months on the lot. I moved on.
