Im not the "all" knowing of Mustangs,But I do know quite a bit.I for one would love to have a hatch Mustang II some day.I think they are cool lil cars. You can toss the coupes out the window I dont care for them at all.I mean who wouldnt want to drive this GEM
I knew it didnt come with the running horse.Once and a while I get the urge to do some research of different Ford cars from time to time and it looks like I need to research the Mustang II some more!
Again thanks for the info,VERY well done post.

But I'm about to bust...
Here's a pic of my Orange King. Just got it home and washed it down.
This car I picked up in Delaware. It was turning mid-to-low 10's in the 1/4. Has a 4.30:1 mini-spool, 9", top loader, 306.
And this poor soul I bought for $750 from a guy in Minnesota who was already stripping it to sell for parts. (I got them all back too, see in the back of the truck!)
I think there is something in all this writing to be learned for the upcoming F5... It REALLY doesn't have to be lightning fast, but it needs to have A SOUL. If it has that certain something that Camaros used to have, almost regardless of it's power or looks, it will be just fine.
I just don't get where this mid-70s nostalgia is coming from? I remember all of the Aspens, Volares and Mustang IIs as complete crap. Even today, these cars don't seem all that much hipper.
Strangely, even the pokiest 1978 Corvette is still vaguely appealing. Similarly, the worst of the Gen 2. F-bodies defies dorkiness. Burt Reynolds was driving a 2-ton pig of a car in "Smokey and the Bandit," but a black T/A with a intact screaming chicken decals is still exciting, in only an offhanded way.
I still think of the 1974 and '75 model years as the beginning of the lowest ebb of Detroit products. We should remember the seventies as the decade when domestic products lost their reputation, performance and almost any desirability. The first rays of hope in this downward spiral were the '79 Mustang, '82 F-bodies and the '84 Corvette. Even then, the drivetrain picture was still pretty horrible until just before the dawn of the 1990s.
