The funny thing is he was a diehard Chevy/GMC truck man up until he bought his first Ford truck in 1981. Drove that truck into the ground until he replaced it with the '03. I guess 22 years is pretty good for a truck.

My dad isn't one to boast or B.S. so that probably is accurate. He does always tag onto the end of that statement, "Have you driven a Ford lately?" To which I always reply, "No, but I passed one broken down on the side of the road."

Ford's diesel is a V8, anyway. The Cummins (Dodge) is an inline 6, but the Powerstroke and the Duramax are V8s. But like Threxx, I paused at the thought of a V6 F250, even a light duty F250. It is certainly possible that the 4.2L is offered as the base engine in a LD F250; I don't know if the 4.3L can be had in a LD2500 or not (from Chevy).

Yes, 4.2L V6 LD F250 Extended cab. Yeah, I thought the same thing when he told me it was only a V6 and had to do a double-take on the F250 badges. My dad would never consider a diesel.
