FWIW, the 5.3s get the same MPG, or so it seems. My sales manager has an '00 Tahoe he averages 18.5 with, with about a 50/50 city/highway mix. My dad's '05 TrailBlazer averages almost 21 MPG, and that's with 4WD weighing it down. So Threxx, I don't see where a 2WD 4Runner getting 21.5 is overly extraordinary...

21.6mpg with around 80% city is pretty good IMO. I didn't say it was extrordinary. Heck, I didn't even really say it was good. I was just adding my own personal stat to the conversation of SUV gas milage.

And to be honest I think Darth is making up at least part of those stories. I've never seen anything like that happen with ANY car, much with one specific late model vehicle.

 

Well, I'd tend to believe it. I don't think Darth has a personal vendetta against the Armada. And if one of our resident engineers claims the hinges suck, then why CAN'T you believe it?

 

Ok I was wrong. I would still like to see Redzed post something proving what he has.

 

I forgot to bring up the time where I was sitting in the Nissan dealer's parking lot (a seperate time from the hood incident, of course...) A guy pulls up in his 2002-ish Lincoln Navigator. Apparently decided he was going to purchase an Armada.

Anyway, long story short, the guy gets his new ARmada, and drives away. (Some of the local kids were sitting on the curb at this time... they all pointed and laughed shouting "UGLY! UGLY!" as this poor guy drove by.)

About 20 minutes later......as I am still personally sitting in the Nissan dealer parking lot... the Aramada comes back on a tow truck.

Intriqued, I get out and ask the guy what was up... he said he had come to get his Navigator back, because he simply coudln't stand the amount of road noise that "piece of crap Armada" had in the cabin.... it was so bad that he had the Armada towed back to the dealership.

Even if all of this stuff has happened, there's no way that you were there to witness so much of it.

I searched the entire Armada section on edmunds.com for ANYTHING to do with the word "hinge" and found absolutely nothing even close to what you claim to have seen twice. Same thing with the transmission.

I think he's making it up because he's tired of dealing with redzed's shenanigans...

 

I've seen redzed say some nonsensical stuff, but never claim anything that extreme. Guess I don't hang out in here enough.
