But the fact of the matter is, that a consortium of Mustang tuners, (who presumably have a clue on tuning Mustangs), have taken a Mustang with a very high level of factory powertrain kit, with an already hellacious amount of power, with easy tunability potential, which has been modded on a dyno and track tested by professionals. Considering all this - I was expecting a better performance.

For me, the big take away here, is that in the 'real world' of physics, there are diminishing returns to simply adding copious amounts of power in order accelerate a car which is excessively heavy.
I understand that but consider the case of the 4700 lb Lightnings who have little problems getting very low ETs with much more weight and much less aerodynamics. If in 6 months the cars are still struggling to get out of the 12s with 2 grand in mods. Ok point made and taken. BUT until then can we please stop knee jerking. It serves no one any good. If you are right you did nothing more than pre-judge something before all the data was in. If you are wrong you have a TON of egg on your face.

This about sums up the rampant faggotry running wild over there. Here is a quote from the guy I would assume is the "Top moderator" over there:

"Everyone is jumping off of the boat due to a pin hole leak right now though. I can see where people are very impressed, and I can see where some people can be very disappointed in the car. This is the reason why I have been so lenient on the opinions posted."

So, if Mr. High and Mighty doesn't like your opinion, you are gone. What kind of douchebag, second-grade **** is that?

You can always register under a new username, and if an IP ban applies you can use a proxy server.

Why would I have egg on my face? I have every expectation that in the future, people will massage the GT500 to go faster. But I'm not shy about saying that the performance of this car falls short IMO....and frankly, I think you agree with me.

11.81...hmmm. The car nut in me wonders how low it would have went with a pulley swap. I hope GM is looking into or concidering turbo for the top model camaro instead of supercharging.

theres alot of people on that site that need a smack in the head. Im surprised I wasnt banned but I was careful not to bad mouth the GT500 that much.

the thread got locked after 11 pages.

here are some highlights:

Where the hell is the ban stick when you need it! zigroid and landstuhltaylor need a good IP smackin'
I wish I was cool enough to go on other sites and make a complete *** of myself.
I never once made an *** out of myself. I dont know what he was reading...
**** you see more positive things said on ls1tech about mustangs and fords than you do on this site 80% of the time.
^^^ lol
hahaha
anybody that would take a new z06 over the ford gt is a complete moron as the ford gt out handles the z06 and has far more potential
Saw an interview with a Ford test driver who stated he has been in excess of 230 MPH in the FORD GT.
I was hoping for a 11sec stock car, I guess that's not gonna happen. And they want 40k for a car that needs a bunch of mods to crack 11's, what a joke. The hype will go down in a year once people realize it takes a bunch of warranty voiding mods to get into the 11's. I'll wait and pick mine up for 35k, which is about all it's worth.

Don't even compare this tank to a Z06, because a Z06 will put buslengths on this car even with mods.
^^^ he was banned shortly after for saying this....
What a joke, you ban everyone or anyone who disagrees with you and your precious GT500 that takes 5k in mods to dip into the high 11's. I like the car, but it's not worth more than 35k max.

You guys are acting like school kids, threatening people who don't share your opinions. We are all adults here, so let everybody speak their mind and lay off.

You guys remind me of the kids in elementary school who ran to the teacher for help everytime you were picked on. Take the opinions like a man, and don't be ****** and threaten people with banning them just because you don't like what they said.

Go ahead, threaten me. Oh I'm so depressed I'm being banned from a gay mustang website.
basically it continued the route it was going before with a bunch of ford fanatics rambling on and other reasonable mustang owners setting the facts straight. you didnt miss much.

Im just glad I contributed to the locking of a thread

I think that even "this" car needs to be given some time to prove itself. It's new. It's got very few miles on it. The people that have it obviously probably have not hand anywhere near enough seat time in the car to really get out of it what it has the potential for. This is not new. Just about every car including the C6 had times that were VERY high at initial release and as things progressed it came down to right about what everybody is expecting. Personally I'm expecting consistent mid to low 12s for the average driver. The egg comes in when folks make declarations about things like this way too soon. BTW I was using the term "you" in a general sense and not spot on towards yourself.

Based on the **** I see people doing on the street, I think this car is too much for any "average" driver. I'm expecting the truly average driver to put it into the wall, or if they do manage to get through the traps, to pull a low 13 at 107.

Mid to low 12's are what I hope to see from a decent driver in good conditions.

Oh, I don't know...what's the quickest 315 RWHP M6 LS1 you've ever seen/heard of?

I gaurantee the motor alone outweighs and LS1 by 200 lbs.
With the blower and all? Absolutely, probably more.

Personally, I think the GT500 is an overweight (are you listening Mr Camaro?), overpriced Hype car. I wouldn't buy one. That's my opinion of course, and if someone likes it enough to pay for it, that's ok with me and more power to ya. It certainly is unique.

That said....don't kid yourself....they will go significantly faster with both less - and more - mods. Give it time.

Oh....one other thing. In my drag racing experience, my best MPH almost always comes with my best ET - or at least with a run in which I did NOT spin the tires excessively. I personally think the "high mph because I spun the tires" line is pure bunk.
