GMHTP: regular cab Silverado SS a go?
On pg 9 in the voice mail part there was a letter about how disappointing the real Silverado SS was, and how bad the press/people received it, yet how well the regular cab SEMA truck was taken in. Their response was
"...When it was initally shown at the 2002 SEMA show, it was a smashing success among showgoers and the press. We have since discovered that Chevy has added a suffiently similar truck to its product plans to be sold along side the current heavyweight SS. Look for it sometime in 2005."
I hate to take that at face value, but I hope to god it's true. If they can keep it at their previous target price of high $20k with a gen IV sbc that doesnt suck and a 6 speed, it'll be the first thing I'll buy out of college and that's a promise.
And on a side tangent I saw a Silverado SS on the Chevy lot I was running past a few days ago. I stopped and looked at it, it was more disappointing in person than it was in pictures. Ironically enough, a Lightning drove by (no ****) at the same time, I could just hang my head in shame as a Chevy guy. It was also marked down $3k from sticker, are they not selling well?

If they build them, they will sell!
The regular cab looks so mean. I'm like you, I hope they keep it in the $20k's and make it stong with the 6 speed. Didn't I read like $23K? That would be a performance bargain, even if it is a truck! I bet they wouldn't have to mark them down to sell either. Of course, what did they expect with a price tag in the $40k's?

YEESSSSS!!!!i'll take mine in black!keep it mid-high 20s,keep the 6-speed and i'm sold.even if it wasn't competitive with the lightning or ram, just make fun to drive and able to haul ***.
i saw a blue silverado SS at the super chevy show,it was really nice, but the guy still had his sticker in the window,41K!!!!i imagine the harley hauler and the lightning will be the same or more,we need an inexpensive fun to drive truck.don't let us down chevy!hey, how about a step-side?i could pretend i was ryan o'neal in the driver!

I'm still baffled why GM won't make a truck that can compete with the lightning........
Usually every time a manufacturer comes late to a game they bring large stakes.........
Not GM though.......

As far as I knew (which is limited to what I read on the board) the truck was being considered for production but this is the best thing twards confirmation I have. We all dont run SilveardoSS.com and have access to inside information, lol.

I find it funny some of you think that if GM brought out a REAL SS truck that it would go for under 30,000.If they were to bring out a sub 30K truck it would be just as disapointing as the current one.
Here in Michigan I have only seen one SS on the road and one @ the local dragstrip. The guy at the track didnt want to share his timeslip with anyone?

Whatever engine/HP the reg cab might come with--it'll be faster the the ext cab--just make an automatic availible. I've yet to drive a manual trans truck that feels good. Shifters are long throw and sloppy.
And the reg cab is so damn good looking too
