GM Shrugged

Read Ayn Rand's "Atlas Shrugged" to understand GM today. The correlations are simply amazing. Wagoner and Company knew exactly where they were going with the Delphi spinoff, the destruction of unionism, and with it the American way of life and middle class.
GM is being led down the path of self destruction, and soon plan to produce almost completely off shore, own the franchised outlets, and profit on the paper flow.
I predicted the long term damage to brands, the inevitable hangover from GMS, and the disguised idiocy prevalent in the Ren Cen. These people are not so stupid, they know exactly what they are doing, and it will forever change the landscape of business as we know it.

I'm optimistic that a mod will step in around page 12 or so and the thread will die shortly afterwards.

Re: GM Shrugged

Only 20? GM is on a mission to destroy what is left of our way of life, and those who can't see it are blind to the facts of capitalistic fanaticism. Where is Olds and where is Buick headed? Build 'em in Asia and sell the back end paper profit. To hell with Joe Workingman, his family, community, tax base, school system, and a life of comfortable retirement. The exceeding greed of today's leaders extends from the White House to the gas pump, and to deny the existence of such is to believe a fairy tale of benevolent elitism.

Kerkorian is a lot smarter than I in these matters. Since he's buying, you should probably do the same. Meanwhile, hold onto your fanny if you are in retail automotive as GM leadership has absolutely no clue, unless that is, they are determined to self destruct with their repeatedly failed attempts at what can only be graciously described as botched marketing.

yea it'd probably be a wise choice to buy... its hard to stomach it tho... seems like throwing money away, but in the end it should all go up...

might be off subject I'm not really sure
but
A fellow employee remembered last september GM had 0% financing for 72 months... and due to that we had sold 451 cars... now thats not to shabby for our dealership, but this year... september was a flop of 210 cars... is there any hope that GM can spark another rush to buy, like GMS originally did, without hurting GM's pocket book?

Now I empasized a few words there, that GM ought ever do again, but that is what GM has tought the people... and the people listen...

IMO GM is a symptom of what is wrong in America, not the cause. There is no simple, 20 step, solution.

Re: GM Shrugged

Do you really see GM as the only company doing this? I work for IBM, and it's been happening for years. It doesn't work out as well as planned either...

IMO Walmart is the epidomy of what is wrong with America. People don't care about service, they don't care about quality: They just want the lowest price for something.

That is what is wrong with America.
