I would love to see the Camaro with more interior room, RWD V8 375+hp (Z28,SS) less than 3,400 lbs

Large, bloated coupe = Monte Carlo

Smaller, athletic, nimble coupe = Camaro.

It's just that simple to me. More interior room would be fantastic...but the car shouldn't increase in exterior dimensions to provide that. A GTO-based Camaro doesn't appeal to me at first, or even second, thought. I'd have to see the finished product to be sure.

What about Buick

It seems that on VE light's platform we can share vehicles with other brands ala chevy, pontiac etc. As I remember we originally all speculated that SIGMA would carry the Camaro after a while and that Buick would get a variant(Which later turned to SAAB) and now we know that Cadillac will not share with anyone it's coveted Sigma platform.

Are the plans for the SAAB corssover (9-X? and a Grand National) now completely out of the question?

If Buick does get a twin GTO for it's showroom it would blend well with it's image of "luxury" coupe and rival popular Import's just as well as the GTO can, leaving a nibler Camaro version for the Mustang sales etc.

As far as Monte Carlo is concerned, maybe GM will discontinue it and use the another name for it.. hmm maybe Corvair? or Chevette? or maybe something totally out of the blue like...

Chevrolet Spark?

I'm sorry it's lunch time and I'm hungry but seriously what about a Buickk Variant off Sigma VE?

The next Park Avenue? Perhaps a returned Roadmaster? Chances are it will either be a Seville variant or a VE.

I wish that we could get off of this whole 1st gen paradigm. The 1st gen became obsolete in 1970. If I wanted a 1st gen ...I'd just go and buy one.

What I want is a modern 5th gen that doesn't look like a two door sedan.

Ditto x2. If this is what we get, and there also isn't a Trans Am available with aggressive styling, GM is off my shopping list.

I guess I'm just too easy ...

All I want is a reasonably attractive 2 + 2 Coupe with RWD and a manual transmission that bests the 4th gen in straight line performance, handling (especially autoX), passenger comfort (I don't think there's much room to improve on driver comfort) and comes in reasonably well equipped at under $40K Canadian and as a full load convertible for under $60K Canadian.

I don't really care if they badge it Daewoo and use a 3 cylinder (that sounds like a V8) as long as it meets the other parameters.

I totally agree. If there is no Firebird/Trans Am available as well GM can kiss my a$$ goodbye.

There's no doubt in my mind the VE will be versitle enough to support both a Camaro-ish car and a larger Monte like car. This is a Holden venture, it'll be quite a bit different than what GM NA spoonfeeds us.

Not like it makes a whole lot of difference, but I noticed you mentioned "6G1" .. G1 is the code for Chevrolet. Always has been, since they went to 17-digit VINs in 1981. So I doubt it'll be G1. Probably G2 (Pontiac) or G5 (the only other code I can think of on a Pontiac (89TTA)), if anything.

useless fact of the day.

Another vote for this post here. But the 1sts weren't exactly sedan-like as the new GTO is. A GTO-like Camaro is NOT the way to go. I want the low agressive look.

Exactly...if the Camaro is a rebadged GTO (aka upright coupe), forget it...I will definitely invest in a 20-30k mile IROC at that point, and own what in my opinion, are two of the best looking REAL Camaros ever made...

Someone said it best...first gen died in '70, so for the love of god, leave it there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I got through snowstorms this past winter where the only things on the road were me, SUVs and snowplows...in terms of all-out capability, its hard to beat FWD in inclement weather...

Except AWD
Hmm, comparing an 89 Camaro to a 02 Grand Am?
