G8 Sneak Peak!
What ever happened to that rumored caddie coupe? If there is a caddie coupe, i would not expect it to be a camaro. IIRC, i've also read bits over time that say holden would not want a camaro-class monaro because it wouldn't be true to it's mid sized roots.
That may be a good way to **** off the Australians and give Camaro an unfair start there. Replacing one of their beloved muscle cars with ours. If thats the case it might not matter how good we think Camaro is.
You might be thinking of the forthcoming CTS coupe?
The CTS coupe is on. It will be based on Sigma however.
It looks just like that car, but good, and has four doors.
You guys are gonna go nuts when you see it though. Not because it is some insane styling, just because of how unexpected the styling is.
Guionm, the pics I have are of the G8 GT, is that what you guys were given?

It's very early on in the game, but I wonder if Pontiac has the makings of a real hit on their hands. Bob Lutz has noted that the GTO could have been a "bases loaded home run" but for a slightly high price tag, slightly bland styling, and of course the whole non-retro imbroglio.
Now here comes another aussie-mobile. It's got all the attractive qualities of the GTO - great power, terrific handling, foreign polish. But in place of the GTO's bubble shapes, it looks cut from granite, and from the images we've seen, integrates the Pontiac grill and hood scoops better than any modern effort we've seen. It also has a full size trunk.
Let's hope GM has learned other lessons from the GTO. Let's hope they have the dealer network working with them, not against them. I'm also pining for V6 availabilty. This isn't a specialty vehicle it's a replacement for a volume seller.
All that being said, I'd like mine in burnt orange with a six-speed.

....plus theres aussie dna all over in it
well there will be...
and you know for what its worth they were not to far off on the car. Basic styling and all that good stuff. When I first saw the picture I didnt think it had a chance but now after seeing the G8. Looks like it has some family traits. Not that it will look like this but good guess..

And it was nice. But to me, it wasn't a GTO.
I think the new VEs are very nice looking cars. They just don't look American enough to me.
The new Camaro looks American.
I've said this before, but I'll restate it: If the GTO comes back, I hope the team that did the Camaro does the GTO.
