First Look at the Gen V Small Block

Re: First Look at the Gen V Small Block
I would think that a 3-valve head would be much wider, like this experimental LS1 with 3-valve heads.
Yes, the intake has a cover over it hiding the real intake runners.
Its going to be interesting to see whats reveled. I really hope they come up with a way to really dress up the engines for the Corvette and Camaro without plastic covers.

Agreed, but DI tends to be a bit noisey. Fingers crossed though - I hate opening a hood just to see an expanse of plastic.

Plastic is ugly but cheap. If they plan to keep costs down, you're going to see plastic. But that doesn't leave out the possibility of OEM/Aftermarket covers for those that want to "dress-up" the mill.

I think I read somewhere that the SS Sprint Cup car will be unveiled at Vegas.
I don't know when the Vegas race is. Is it close to the debut date of the new V-8?
If so, maybe they're doing the launches in concert with each other?

I really don't want to be negative about this in any way because it looks like a great engine, but I can't believe they used the designation LT1 again.

Supposed to get 26mpg highway in the Corvette.

The increase in torque at low RPMs will be welcome.
The LS series engines just didn't have any hit off-idle to 3K RPMs.
Plus the numbers are estimated.
I bet they end up somewhere like 456 or 462 hp.
